Back on Track

Back on Track is a provincially mandated program for convicted impaired drivers. It requires that all participants pay a registration fee before they can start the program. Convicted impaired drivers must complete all three parts of this program and serve their full suspension period before they are eligible to be reinstated. Please note that it can take up to 11 months to complete all three program components.

While our office is contracted to provide services to people living in the counties of Peterborough, Northumberland, Haliburton and the City of Kawartha Lakes, any participant can access the service by traveling to Peterborough.

The three phases include:

Assessment - This 30 minute assessment takes place in person at the Peterborough office. The assessment will determine whether the participant must attend the one-day education, or two-day treatment program.

Education or Treatment Program - The focus of both programs is to develop strategies to reduce impaired driving in the future. They require that the participant be able to read and write English. If a participant is not able to read or write English, they are required to bring a translator or helper to assist them in the course.

Follow-up Interview - This interview is conducted by phone six months after the education or treatment course is completed. The program is not considered complete until this follow up interview has been conducted.

For information regarding course dates, call the Peterborough office at (705) 876-1292 or
1-800-461-1909.
