
Assessment & Referral
The cornerstone of all addiction treatment is an assessment of the impact that substance use or gambling has on an individual's life. This process involves the completion of a provincially standardized addiction assessment. The outcome of this process provides clients with valuable information that helps them determine treatment decisions which best suit their needs.
Individual & Group Counselling
At Fourcast, we believe that the majority of treatment needs can be addressed on an out-patient basis.
Individual – Clients are linked to a primary counselor where treatment plans are established and the Counsellor offers specialized individual and group treatment options. When required, referrals are provided to other addiction or local community resources including:
Group – Clients can participate in a wide range of one or more group treatment sessions on topics that meet their specific needs. Groups include:
Getting Started:
Getting Started is a six-week group program which occurs during day and evening hours and is intended for clients who are in the early stages of treatment. This program provides an introduction to the coping strategies necessary for clients to move forward with their goals. It is an open admission program that clients can access right away. The program is best suited to clients who are in the early stages of making changes.

Relapse Prevention:
This weekly evening group program supports clients with moderate to severe substance abuse problems and/or problem gambling concerns. It is appropriate for individuals that have established goals related to their substance use or gambling through individual counselling.
Clients learn to recognize triggers and high-risk situations while developing effective ways of coping with these situations. Relapse prevention topics are discussed and illustrated through practice exercises and videos. This group has an open admission format allowing clients to be admitted monthly.

Family Programs:
Fourcast offers individual and group counselling for the significant others of individuals with alcohol, drug or gambling related problems. It is not necessary for the individual with the problem be a Fourcast client in order for their significant other to access Fourcast services. In addition to group services, family members may also access individual counselling.
The family program is comprised of three group programs – Family Information Sessions, Family Education Programs and Family Support Groups.
Family Information Session
This session is open to anyone concerned about another's substance use or problem gambling. It is offered every other week and provides an opportunity to readily access education and information regarding substance use and problem gambling in addition to the treatment options available for both themselves and their significant other.
Family Education Program
This four-session program has open admission and covers topics such as understanding substance abuse; problem gambling and its effects on families and relationships; identifying potential changes; and establishing healthy boundaries.
Family Support Group
This group meets weekly for twelve weeks and helps family members implement the changes they have identified through participation in the Family Education Sessions.

Youth Options:
Youth Options is a four-session early intervention group for young people. The program is motivational in design, and based on providing educational information for the client to consider when making substance use choices.
Clients are encouraged to reflect upon their present situation by exploring the impact of substance use on various life areas. Information pertaining to the pharmacology and risks related to substance use is intended to assist them in making more informed decisions.

Options
Options is a three-session early intervention group for adults that have not yet set a substance use goal. The program is motivational in design, and based on providing educational information for the client to consider.

Concurrent Disorder Group
This 12-week group program is jointly facilitated by Fourcast counselors and community mental health agency staff. It is designed to provide clients with knowledge and strategies for coping with concurrent mental health and substance use issues.
Session topics include mental health and managing disorders; effective decision making; initiating change; coping strategies; thought distortions; self-motivation; self-care; and lifestyle enhancement.
