Bed-Based Addiction Treatment Services

Opening for Admission at Paddock Wood

We are now accepting referrals to our 35-day bed-based addiction treatment services at Paddock Wood. Our program offers 6 bed spaces to male-identifying service users, and provides evidence-based best practice approaches designed to support people making changes to their substance use.

In the future, Paddock Wood will offer both addictions treatment and withdrawal management services.

Bed-Based Addiction Treatment Service Overview:

  • Access to medical support provided by a Nurse Practitioner, and support from Fourcast staff on-site 24 hours a day.
  • Trauma-informed care using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) tools and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills, delivered from a Motivational Interviewing lens to help service users meet their recovery goals.
  • Individual counselling combined with psychoeducation and life skills groups to foster interpersonal engagement while learning about topics including managing cravings, coping with anxiety, changing habits, effective communication, social supports, and much more.
  • Service users must be prepared to abstain from using substances during their stay at Paddock Wood and will create a personalized relapse prevention plan in accordance with their identified recovery goal (harm reduction or abstinence).

We encourage our service users to engage in our low-barrier community-based treatment options while awaiting a bed at Paddock Wood, and also provide ongoing after-care through services such as counselling, group meetings, education for family members, Auricular Acupuncture, and supportive housing programs.

Bed-based services are part of an extended continuum of addiction treatment services offered by Fourcast within our four-county region. The model of having service users stay on-site 24/7 for up to 35 days is a critical element, as we work to expand the addiction treatment options in our region and give access to these services closer to home for those who make that choice.

Referral Process:

Service users can complete the bed-based treatment referral on their own, or with support from a family member, friend, or community partner. There are two steps to the referral process:

  1. Download and fill out the Paddock Wood Bed-Based Treatment Referral (PDF).
  2. Open the Online Referral Form, and attach the PDF document.

Please include copies of any recent assessment tools (GAIN Q3/Q4 MI, ADAT) so we can review and then connect with the service user to discuss next steps. Note: if the service user does not have any recent assessment tools, we will be happy to complete an assessment with them.
